Hey - not too bad for your first attempt! Much better than my first few times! :-) (Smile)

This sure is...umm...red. :-) (Smile) I'm a color person, and don't typically buy into the normal "dark art has to be washed out with dim colors" that everyone else likes (just my preference)...but in the full view I can see what you are doing, and you've got the foundation to the skills developing. Good texturing here!

Here are my only 2 suggestions:

1 - The tears all just black...too black. They don't look right. Maybe use the burn tool to get the black effect without completely losing all shading and highlights completely.

2 - use the burn and dodge tool at a really low low opacity to brush on some shadows and highlights on the texture...so it looks more like she's made of concrete.

Other than those, you've got a really solid piece.

Hope those don't sound negative...I think the better you get, the higher standards you'll be setting yourself up to strive for, hence more annoying critiques. :-) (Smile)

Well, I agree with everything oceanborn said, and also, on the inside of her right eye the red seems to go over into the black of her eye... hrm.
I really like this picture and how deep you've made it, considering you were just starting out. I can't wait to see more like this.

eeep! very powerful and sort of scary. It's very interesting in that while she's silenced as in "not being able to make sounds", everything else in the image and her face is screaming and communicates pain, sadness and fear. very artistic :) (Smile) Also, very impressive, since you were just learning at the time. Definitely something I will print out and place on my "Door of Scary Things" :) (Smile)

I write so you don't have to. But you should, anyway.
